Altercation Lands Two Men in Hospital

Today at 2:13 PM, Washington Police, Washington Fire and EMS, Broad Creek EMS, and Chocowinity EMS responded to the 700 block of Respess Street in reference to an altercation.

Upon arrival police located two people (Richard Marshall age 22, of Penn Cross Dr. Greenville, and Dache Carter, age 20, of Morrattock Rd Plymouth) who were transported to Beaufort County Hospital, Marshall for facial injuries and Carter for an apparent gunshot wound to the back. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening at this time.

Weekend Crimes Lead to Arrests

On Monday night Washington Police teamed up with Beaufort County Sheriff's Office to apprehend Dwayne Ricardo Mcmurren Jr. at his home in Trails End MHP. Mcmurren was charged with Felony Burglary, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Kidnapping, and Felony Sexual Assault. Mcmurren was processed and placed in Beaufort County Jail with a $222,000.00 secured bond pending court appearances.

Also arrested early this morning was Gregory Anthony Gardner Jr. of Brown Street. Gardner was charged with Felony Burglary, Felony Kidnapping, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Felony Rape. Gardner was processed and placed in Beaufort County Jail with a $210,000.00 secured bond pending court appearances.

These arrests come as a result of a Sunday morning incident in a local Hotel Room. Further details are not being released due to the ongoing investigation and to protect the identity of the victims. Additional charges are pending.

Stolen Car Recovered, Man Arrested

On Wednesday morning, just after midnight, Washington Police Officers with the assistance of Beaufort and Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Rickey Hardy, age 39, of Mill Inn Road, Williamston.

Hardy was taken into custody following the pursuit of a stolen vehicle that he was driving. Hardy led police to his residence in Martin County. Hardy was charged with Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle, Felony Speeding to Elude Arrest, Misdemeanor Failing to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren, Misdemeanor Reckless Driving, and two counts of Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle from other incidents in Martin and Beaufort County.

This event stemmed from the theft of a vehicle that was left unattended at a Washington convenience store. “We encourage everyone to secure your vehicle and keys whenever you leave it unattended, even if it is only for a minute to pay for fuel or to go inside your house”, said Lt. William Chrismon.

Hardy was placed in Beaufort County Jail under a $31,000 secured bond for the array of charges, pending court appearances. The investigation into these charges is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Sweep nets 20 Arrests...so far

On August 07, 2009, Law Enforcement Officers with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington Police Department teamed up to serve arrest warrants and indictments on forty people involved in the distribution of controlled substances. The arrest warrants and indictments followed several months of undercover investigations in which the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit and the Washington Police Department made purchases of controlled substances from area drug dealers.

Twenty people have been arrested so far. Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Washington Police Officers will continue searching for the remaining suspects until they all are apprehended.

The following people have been arrested and charged with the following offenses:

Two counts of Tracking in Opium

Trafficking in Opium

9. Terry Keys of Edward
Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine

Local Man Faces Drug Charges

On Sunday August 2nd , Washington Police located and arrested Omar Deshan Blount, age 28, of East 7th St, Washington, NC. Blount was arrested in the 100 block of West 6th Street.


The suspect was arrested on warrants stemming from a 2008 Grand Jury Indictment for Felony Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine and Felony Sell or Deliver Cocaine. Additionally, officers charged Blount with Felony Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine Within 1000 Feet of a Park, Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Blount was placed in Beaufort County Jail under a $6,000 secured bond pending his court appearance.
