Toys for Tots, 2011

The Washington PD collected 429 toys to be donated to “Toys for Tots” for Christmas, 2011.

According to the US Marine Corps Reserve, the mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

The WPD embraces the mission of “Toys for Tots” and is proud to be able to participate in such a worthy cause.

This years donations are the highest in the history of the WPD.  Our communications staff was instrumental in creating the environment that resulted the record breaking donations.  They made it a fun and rewarding competition among shifts and groups of the WPD.

The entire staff of the WPD wishes the community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
